Our Story:
Joseph Raymond 'Cyril' Beecham.

The founders Grandad

I often get asked why I created Cyril, and where I got the inspiration. The answer to this is very simple: the inspiration came from a man called Joseph Raymond 'Cyril' Beecham.

Raymond was a man who cycled 33 miles a day, he was strong, determined, selfless and full of life. He was a dedicated family man, and he would always help those in need. We were all convinced that he was invincible and would outlive us all.

However, over a period of months his health deteriorated until one day, he bent down to fix his TV, fell and couldn't get back up. He stayed on the floor unable to get up for 9 hours. Despite always helping everybody else and having a heart of gold he was as stubborn as they come and wouldn't call for help until it was too late. He would never complain, and always would say that everything is fine, even when it quite clearly wasn't.

This tragic situation made me ask the question "if had he had closer monitoring, might his condition not have escalated, would he still be here today?"

This man was not only my hero, but he was also my Grandad. He was the inspiration and the reason that I decided to build ‘Cyril,’ to reassure people that we can catch the little things before they become too big and hopefully ensure that they do not lose their loved ones unnecessarily.

Cyril provides a real solution to the problem; its Smart Sensor Technology will provide caregivers with a greater understanding of individuals' routines and detect significant changes to daily activities.

The data is sent in real-time, giving the chance for earlier intervention. The non-intrusive sensors can be installed within homes and enable people to continue their everyday life - whether that be sharing time with loved ones, enjoying the companionship of a cherished pet or in Raymond's case, continuing to care for his treasured wife and singing his heart out to Frank Sinatra.

Cyril will provide help and support for even the most stubborn of people and ensure that they get the help that is needed.

Raymond’s legacy of being selfless and always helping others will live on through Cyril ensuring the correct care and support is provided to those that need it.

A final dedication in the words of your hero Frank Sinatra, ‘The Best Is Yet to Come.’
